Have I Told You Lately // Life & Instagram

Instagram will still remain my favorite social network because I love being able to snap little pictures through my day.  They are there to share & there to remind me of my life over time.  So lately, this has been my life:

Lately I've been getting up around 7:30 or 8 in the morning to start my day.  I'm loving my Keurig & enjoying trying all the coffees that filled my stocking.  (Thank you Santa/Santas!)  Getting up each day at a certain time has really helped me keep a schedule & keep on track.  There was one morning last week were I woke up feeling horrible & once I was recovered, my whole day was off track.  I haven't moved to the 'putting clothes on everyday' stage yet mainly because it's cold here & I'm under my heated blanket no matter where I am in the house.

Lately, I've been enjoying the mornings this way.  Just me, my coffee, & my blog roll.  Others have said that in the morning it's best to ignore everything else & get all of your original ideas out before you go looking around in the world.  I like to wake up a bit, get the juices going, & see whats happening in the world I live in.  Mornings often involve blogs, twitter, current events, & a dose of the Colbert Report & the Daily Show.  Then I migrate into checking emails & getting started for the day.

Lately, I've been hoping for more work to come my way either in the form of a new job or new freelance stuff.  I think January has started off strong & I'm thankful!

Lately, I've been moving to the dinning room table to get work done.  Since we don't have the office set up yet I've been sort of staying in bed to work.  Not the greatest for posture!  So I move to the dinning room table sometimes to focus & stretch.  I can also prop up my calendar and have actual work space.  I've been putting more though into packing 516VINTAGE orders & can't wait to get the printer set up.  I've also been contemplating attempting photos one more time now that I have a flash & now that the downstairs is almost done.  I might be able to snap some photos after the paint dries but before the flooring is installed.  Lately, I've also been working on the stationery shop but feeling a little nervous because it's a zazzle shop & not a real shop.  I'm afraid of sharing it too much for fear of negative judgement....like I'm not doing something right.  But it's an outlet for creativity right? I should try it right?

Lately, I've been pushing myself to do more promoting.  I've been trying to find ways to advertise more, trying to talk about my work more, trying to share it with more people, & trying not to be shy.  Mainly I'm trying not to feel judged.  A year ago I was terrified to say I designed blogs, but now...shoot I'll tell in one second.  I'm more confident now & I'd like to be that way with the Stationery Shop.

Lately, I've been trying to figure out a way to open the Five One Six shop.  That requires photography too but it also requires time.  Once I get somethings down pat in the Stationery Shop, I'll move on to the Five One Six shop.  I've realized that I sorta put each shop on a rotation.  First I concentrated on opening 516VINTAGE with photos, listing, & creating the shop.  Then I moved on to the design shop, adding options, creating new designs, & creating the STUDIO site.  Then it was onto the Stationery Shop: creating designs, coding, etc.  So I guess I'm right on track.  I like this sort of rotation because it makes it easy for me to have different creative outlets.  Same reason why I crocheted like 8 blankets but now am not crocheting any! I get tired of one thing & like to move on to the next.

What have you been up to lately? Anything new or exciting?

  1. I really love your work and don't think you should be shy or feel judged at all! You are a great designer!

I am trying to start my own etsy shop selling my ink and watercolor sketches of birds. I am so nervous as I don't really consider myself an artist, and am so worried I will be judged. I really like making things though so just have to get over the hurdle of fear.

I stay home working on projects as well, and I usually am snuggled up on the couch. I have a desk set up in my living room but it is so hard for me to actually sit at it, I guess it's discipline.

Anyway, good luck with your ventures!

    xx, C

  2. I really like what you're doing so don't ever be afraid of others judging you!
I'm trying to figure out what I want at the moment, I know I want a change but I'm not sure how it will look like. Having a schedule, getting up at a set time and having a place to work helps me a lot, too, just helps me to focus. Sitting on the couch trying to work will always lead to watching telly or browsing the Internet for no special reason...

  3. I love Instagram too. It's my favorite social media. I know exactly how you feel about the judging/promoting yourself I am terribly shy in one on one situations. I recently went to a meeting and had to introduce myself when I said I was a blogger it was met with absolute silence. Your shops are great! I just discovered Zazzle how is their quality?

  6. Mornings are my favorite time of the day (when I don't have to go to work that is) but to take my time reading blogs, catching up with shop stuff, blog stuff and enjoying my coffee. It sounds like you have so much on your plate, I'm sure it will all come together. :)
