Hello there Friday! Man I love when the week is over. This weekend we're going to go visit some friends in Michigan & get our board game on. If you are looking for something more creative this weekend, I've got something to share with you: The ModCloth Make the Cut Contest!
The ModCloth Make the Cut Contest is a recurring design contest that invites the ModCloth Community to design garments, graphics, or fabric prints & the main purse is to further their mission of democratizing fashion! Producing clothing designed by the community that loves ModCloth means that YOU can become a designer! I've never ever before thought about designing a pattern for actual fabric - let alone something to be sold by ModCloth! If you love their brand go ahead & design your heart away. I took the little example graphic from their website & used photoshop to just fill it with patterns:
This isn't the official template to design for but it was fun to play around. Check out below for an overview of the rules, but read the official rules here (Hurry, submission ends on 2/14!):
How does the contest work?
Entrants will design a new print for a private label dress silhouette that is already being produced! Contestants have two weeks to submit designs. After the submission period, the ModCloth Creative Team will narrow down the submissions to 20, which will be sent to the guest judge, Amanda Needham, Costume Designer for Portlandia. After Amanda has chosen the 10 finalists, they will be posted on the Be The Buyer page for voting. There will be a week for the Community to vote, then ModCloth will contact the winner and update the contest announcement with the big news!
• Contest is Live Now!
• End of Submission Period: Friday 02/14/14
• Launch voting on Be The Buyer: Monday 03/03/14
• End voting on Be The Buyer: Monday 03/10/14
• Winner announced on ModCloth Blog (winner will be contacted personally): Wednesday 3/12/14
So get cracking on those designs ladies and gents! Good luck if you enter!
