Our Trip to Michigan // My Yellow Shoes

I bought the most horrid, most absolutely awesome yellow shoes from Michigan.  You can pick them up too because they are at Icing by Claire's.  When I purchased these, the first to purchase them from that store mind you, I knew they were the best shoes ever....that I'd have to try consciously to wear.  They won't go with everything....but they could.

Details
Jeans // Forever21 plus
Top & Cuckoo Clock Necklace // Target
Belt, Shoes, Nail Polish, Triangle Ring // Icing
Bracelet, Red Blazer // Thrifted
Sunnies // Big Lots (of all places)
-also, I promise that's just funny jean bunching in these pics.  promise-

These photos were taken by Zach, of course.  I am so thankful to have him helping me out & being so supportive of my creative things.

This blazer has become my favorite.  I also have a yellow & a pink one I thrifted at the same time.  They are great for spring!

Do you have a crazy accessory you love but can't seem to fit in to your outfits?

Collections // Shoes

Collections play a huge part not only in my idea of identity (see my artist statement & the post about my senior project for more info).  I am a collector at heart & can't remember the last time I didn't have multiples of something.  There are a few things I actively collect (rings from the places I've been, shoes, craft supplies....) but there are a few things that just seem to accumulate.  Like shoes.  I love shoes! I don't think I collect them, but I sure do have a lot of them!

I love shoes & love to show them off.  There are a few that I go to more often than others, but all of these are the ones that I'd consider my fave.

These 11 pairs are my go to shoes for many occasions & some I just plain 'ol love because they are cute!

(one) my DIY Mocassins! Originally $10 from Target, I DIY'ed some color block mocs with neon green paint.  These are super comfy for everyday wear.

(two) Red thrifted flats first mentioned here.  This I wear when I've no shoes in particular to wear to work, my go-to dress up shoes.  They are bright & just my style.  They are a bit beat up because I wear them all time! My room mate suggested touching them up with a bit of acrylic paint.

(three) These thrifted shoes were 3 or 4 bucks & I bought them at the same time I bought number 8.  I have a brown pair & they are slightly too small.  I might try to see if i can stretch them out.  I've heard if you put ziplock bags of water in them & freeze them, they stretch a bit.....we'll see.

(four) Thrifted Italian made shoes, again a bit to small.  I love these because they are just cute!

(five) Clearance summer sandals from Khol's.  $10, I think.  Can't wait to wear them in the spring!

(six) Target shoes for $10 that I saw a week later at TJ Maxx for $23! what?  So glad I snagged them up.  I wore them a lot this summer.  To Katie's rehearsal dinner actually!  A little worse for wear in this photo.

(seven) Target moc booties from ages ago! They have a little hole in them so I can't wear them in the rain but I've had them for probably 2 years.

(eight) my favorite clogs! Thrifted for $3 I wear these all the time.  Especially with my new flare jeans! They are so comfy & make me so tall! I'd wear them everyday if I could :)

(nine) Khol's clearance from the summer.  The floral pattern just got me! Another go to dress up shoe for my office wear

(ten) Thrifted 'Wallabe' type shoe.  Great for camping & keeping warm.  I accidentally dropped a bit of bleach on one shoe while helping my grandparents close their pool but I touched them up with a sharpie.  Sweet deal!

(eleven) My TJ Maxx boots.  I wear these far too often.  Snagging those up was so great.  My fave!

I have so many more shoes but these are the ones I like to show off.

Fan Fridays // Shoe Inspiration

My favorite thing to pin on my boards on Pinterest is shoes.  DIY tutorials & shoes that are just plain gorgeous grace my My Style board & my Handmade Inspiration board.  I love to pop by the thrift store & see what shoes I may be able to DIY with.

This Fan Friday is all about yummy shoes:

Pick up some boots from the thrift store & cheapo belts to create this look!
for a less crazy look, just wrap some belts in the same color around a pair you already own!

This awesome DIY from A Beautiful Mess will take old boots from Drap to Fab!
I don't have any lace up boots, I got rid of them in high school (they were like combat boots!) & I wish I'd kept them!

I am still in love with Aztec prints & really want to find another pair of Moccasins to pain or sandals to DIY

I am feeling very DIY-ish this week.  I have so many ideas swimming around in my head that I can't wait to get out.

It's raining here today but I hope your Friday is awesome & that your weekend rocks!

What are you plans for the weekend? Any shoe shopping in the works?

Tempted Tuesday // Let's Talk Fall - Clog Mania

Last Let's Talk Fall post since fall is right around the corner!

Fall means the weather is getting colder, cardigans are getting thicker, jackets are slowly creeping into wardrobes, tights are covering bare legs, & feet are getting chilly.  For that past few years, fall to me meant seeing the leaves change on campus & finally donning socks!

I may be the only person in the world this happens to but around this early fall time, my feet can't decide if they are chilly or hot.  I can't stand it when my feet are hot & really concentrate on them if they are.  I get so distracted.  Clogs are the perfect solution to this because I can slip my feet in & out of them at the moments when my feet decide to freak out.

I am not sure if clogs are really 'in' right now but I sure do love them for fall weather.  I got a great platform pair from Arizona (above) at the thrift store the other day.  Platforms are not my first choice of shoes as I am already about 300 feet tall, but I thought they were interesting, in my size, & around $4.  How do you pass that up? I ventured to wear them to work today & I have to say that I can't believe I never did this before!  These have to be the best fall purchase I've made in a while.  I can't wait to see what these puppies look like with tights.

My first encounter with clogs: My mother grew up in the 70's & looking through her old photos I wish I were as tiny as she is because she had some style.  She had perfectly coiffed hair & a wonderful 70's vibe.  She also had a great pair of blue (suede-ish maybe) clogs.  She saved these all through high school, college, marriage & kids and one day she let me wear them.  They were a size 7 or so.  Guess what size shoe I wear? 9 - 10. Guess what great I was in when I wore these shoes? 5th.  Guess how sad I am that I have King Kong feet? a lot.  Anyway, I wore those clogs like they were going out of style.  They were sort of stiff, so I got a huge blister...but I loved them.  I wish I could still squeeze my King Kong feet in them.  But my new little pair rocks.
Here's some fall clog inspiration:

Do you love any particular style of shoe for fall?

Sum Up Sundays: Thrifted Finds

A few days ago I posted about what I would love to find out thrifting.  Well I can mark off a few things on my list, including owls!!! Check out the list here.

I found a set of two for 2 bucks! One is for my sister & the other for me.  I am going to paint them because everyone loves a fun color.  He might even have a name!  Here they are:

I also found a pair of red shoes with a small little heel for .99 cents.  The two watches were $5.99. The red one is a wind up watch & I am pretty sure it is broken but I changed the battery in the other one & it works fine!  I have another watch that looks like the silver one only it is gold & has little rhinestones around it.  I need to grab a battery for that one too.

I am going to put a picture of my puppy in the wind up one so it's sort of like a locket.  Keep an eye out for that tutorial!

Happy Sunday! I can't believe we are already at the beginning of the 2nd week of 2011!
